Therapy

Youth Matters Ltd is committed to the provision of high quality, young person centered service. In order to maintain this quality, the home offers direct work with young people (providing assessment, formulation and evidence-based interventions) as well as consultancy/advice to staff. Youth Matters encourages a therapeutic relationship, which focuses mainly on the emotional and social wellbeing of the young person. Each young person at Inspired Housing and Support is encouraged to develop a strong sense of self, as well as build on their emotional strength, positive relationships and good communication skills.
Youth Matters does not only deliver individual therapy, but also group based therapeutic interventions (where required). This may also involve the young person’s key worker if deemed appropriate.

The main aims of therapy include:
  • Building self esteem
  • Improving communication
  • Stimulating development
  • Building on emotion management
  • Improving the emotional vocabulary
  • Developing skills for self-control
  • Maintaining positive relationships
  • Empowering young people to make positive life choices
Youth Matters Ltd understands the importance of working therapeutically with young people. We are able to facilitate interventions with those who have experienced a diverse range of difficulties including multiple placement breakdowns.
Therapeutic support is offered as a means of helping the young person come to terms with issues that are troubling them. As well as this area of support, we can facilitate life story work with young people which provides the opportunity for them to discover their own individual story, learn ways of understanding themselves and to make a connection between the past, present and future. Life Story work can also address identity and self-esteem issues.
Through our work we help young people to experience positive relationships, in a safe environment, as well as giving them the opportunity to experience different ways of relating, living and learning.
